Financial Expectations for BirthWorks Class Participants

Thank you so much for choosing me to provide your childbirth education! I will strive to provide the highest quality of services to you as you’re preparing for the birth of your baby. As an independent and self-employed educator, it is necessary for me to lay out my expectations in regards to fees/payments. Please look over the following statements so that there are no misunderstandings.

1. The retainer fee is required upon registration ($50/group; $100/private). This reserves your spot in the group class or reserves time on my schedule for private classes. The retainer goes toward the total class cost. It is non-refundable.
2. The remaining balance for group or private classes is due at the 1^st class, at the very latest. If you need to make other payment arrangements, please contact me and I will be happy to discuss it with you.
3. I do not offer refunds. I will only consider offering a partial refund for emergencies or very serious situations and this will be evaluated on an individual basis.
4. For Private Class Participants: While I do my very best to fit all of your classes in before you give birth, I cannot always guarantee this. There are a multitude of factors that can affect our private class schedule, including some that are out of my control, such as: illness, inclement weather, being at a doula client’s birth, and the unpredictability of when you will give birth. Sometimes these variables may necessitate rescheduling one or more classes. In the event that you give birth before we can complete all of your classes, the class fee is non-refundable and non-transferable.
5. For Group Class Participants: I do not offer “pro-rated” class fees or refunds if you are not able to attend all 10 classes. I recognize that there are a variety of circumstances that may cause class participants to miss a week or 2 of class. If you and/or your partner have to miss any of the classes in a 10 week class series, I am happy to offer you the option to make up the missed class with me in person. The cost per private make up class is $60. (Please note: Every week of the group class is foundational to your preparation. Missing any week of class may affect your preparedness for your birth and postpartum. While it is entirely optional to do a private makeup session for missed classes, I strongly recommend you consider scheduling a time with me to make up any missed classes.)
6. For Group Class Participants: While I do my very best to keep our group classes on schedule, I cannot always guarantee this. There are a multitude of factors that can affect our group class schedule, including many that are out of my control, such as: illness, inclement weather, being at a doula client’s birth, and more. Sometimes these variables may necessitate rescheduling one or more weeks of class, in which case your group class may end a week or 2 later than originally planned. In the event that you give birth before completing the group class, the class is non-refundable and non-transferable.
